A NC elementary teacher has been convicted of sexually abusing a 6 year-old student at Lindley Elementary school.

The school is located in Guilford county.

Randall Lee Clawson, age 56, was convicted of felony sexual act with a student by a teacher, two counts of indecent liberties with a child, first-degree sexual offense with a child and two counts of first-degree kidnapping.

The former elementary teacher received a sentence of least 25 years for the first-degree sexual offense and at least 27 months for the other convictions.

This is the second trial for Clawson on the matter. The first was in 2016 when a mistrial was declared.

Greensboro.com reported:

Randall “Randy” Lee Clawson, 56, of Greensboro was convicted of first-degree sexual offense with a child, felony sexual act with a student by a teacher, two counts of indecent liberties with a child and two counts of first-degree kidnapping.

At the time of the offenses, Clawson was the English as a second language teacher of the child, who was a first- grader.

Clawson’s charges will run consecutively because he must serve a minimum of 25 years in prison for the sexual offense before beginning a minimum of 27 months in prison for the other convictions.

The article continues, describing some of the testimony by Clawson’s victim, classmates of the victim and a teacher at the school.

During that trial, the victim testified that Clawson took him into a bathroom, forced him to pull down his pants and inappropriately touched him before forcing the boy to reciprocate.

The boy told jurors that Clawson threatened to do the same thing to his sister if the boy reported him. The abuse lasted three years.

At age 9 the boy finally broke his silence.

His third-grade teacher also testified that she noticed the boy began to fake being ill in the afternoon, and that he would cry before going to Clawson’s class, the last of the day.

One of the victim’s classmates also came forward and testified that the victim was always the last student allowed to leave Clawson’s classroom leaving the boy alone with his teacher.

As of the publishing of this article, Clawson has yet to appear on the Teacher Revocation list maintained by the NC State Board of Education.

  1. I hate to say this, but looking at this guy, I wouldn’t allow my 6 year old to have him as a teacher. I would’ve demanded a teacher change, but that’s just me. I’ve done that before, met a teacher and been like umm no, and demanded a change.
