How often do we hear that term being used in media or newspapers?
How come you rarely hear the media talking about extreme factions in the Democratic Party?
We see the media wasting hours on trying to link Donald Trump to any racist person or group on the street and ‘Alt-Right’ influences, but we hear nothing from the media (or Democrats) when you have Liberals praising brutal dictators like Fidel Castro and his partner Che Guevara who were responsible for some of the greatest human rights violations in recent history.
Liberals were the ones who rioted after Trump won the election, yet the media doesn’t mention the ‘Alt Left’ but instead blames Trump, his supporters and the ‘Alt-Right’ for the violence?
But the rise of a certain politician has me thinking maybe there isn’t really an ‘Alt-Left’. Maybe the majority of Democrats believe in these crazy positions?
Imagine a person running to be the chair of the Republican National Committee with obvious ties to radical Christian groups like the Westboro Baptist church or groups that have an obvious streak for anti-Semitism and agreeing with our nation’s enemies. Wall to wall coverage is the reaction from the media. Yet this seems not to be the case with Rep. Keith Ellison — there’s little to no coverage from our media about his exploits.
Ellison has represented Minnesota’s 5th congressional district since 2007 and, as it stands, he is the front-runner to be next chairman of the Democratic National Committee. Ellison has been linked to the Nation of Islam, a group that the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Anti-Defamation League call extreme.
Ellison has written several columns defending the group under the pseudonym “Keith E. Hakim.”
Under that name, Ellison also wrote the need for a ”˜Black Only Country,’ and was found to be taking the side of an anti-semitic Islamic speaker that was denied a chance to speak at a local university.
A video recently surfaced showing Ellison linking 9/11 to the infamous Reichstags Fires.
Washington Free Beacon captured the dialog from the video:
“Remember 9/11. Right? You had never have [sic] all this discrimination against religious minorities but for 9/11,” Ellison said. “You had it, but you didn’t have it to the degree that we have it now. 9/11 is this juggernaut event in American history, and it allows””it’s almost like, you know, the Reichstag fire kind of reminds me of that. Does anybody know what I’m talking about?”
“But who benefited from 9/11?” an audience member asked.
“Well, I mean, you know, you and I both know,” Ellison said.
“Yeah, Bush,” the audience member replied, a clear reference to then-President George W. Bush.
“But the thing is that, you know, after the Reichstag was burned, they blamed the Communists for it, and it put the leader of that country in a position where he could basically have authority to do whatever he wanted,” Ellison said.
Many historians believe that fires could have been set by the Nazis themselves to give Hitler even more power. This comparison is dangerous. It sounds a lot like Ellison’s a 9/11 truther and essentially is comparing George W. Bush to Adolph Hitler.
Washington Free Beacon, in fact, has amassed quite a lot on Ellison’s questionable dealings such as Ellison’s trip to Saudi Arabia. Apparently that trip was funded by a Muslim Brotherhood tied organization and included a meeting with a radical cleric who had funded suicide bombings.
I could go on and on about Ellison, but my main point is that if a guy with this record could get so much support from leading Democrats, maybe it is indicative that this type of Alt-Left thinking is the mainstream thinking of Democrats?
Maybe. Maybe not.
The re-election of Nancy Pelosi as Minority Leader in the House, with 63 Democrats voting to oust her speaks to a potential portion of Democrats unhappy with the direction and message of the party.
In an interview on CBS’s Face the Nation, Pelosi dismissed the notion that the people, or her party for that matter, want a new direction. Fast forward to the 2:57 mark in the video below to watch the exchange.
Given Pelosi’s comments, maybe it’s not minority of their party that believes in and supports the types of Far Left ideas and groups like Ellison does? After all, this is the party that booed God and Jerusalem at their 2012 convention.
Maybe the media believes that by attacking these fringe groups of the ‘Alt-Left’ that they are attacking the Democratic Party as a whole? Or maybe it’s that the mainstream media can not bring themselves to bite the hand that feeds them.
