#DNC Elects Perez and I was Asked Not To Write About It

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) elected Tom Perez as Chair and I was asked not to write about it. Yep! I kid you not.

  • Perez elected DNC chair;
  • Progressives move on to Plan B;
  • Ellison was marriage counseling ”“ Perez was divorce.

I shared a couple of articles about the incompetency of the DNC on Saturday, and then it started.

Not one, but two, establishment Democrats messaged me on Facebook and asked me not to blog negatively about Tom Perez. It goes like this . . .

“George, Seeing that you have a progressive streak and you supported Ellison I would appeal to you as a good Democrat to not make more out of this than what it is. We all need to come together to fight the Republicans.”

It took me all of three seconds to get into my Bugs Bunny voice and say, “He don’t know me very well, do he.”

Secondly, never call me a “good Democrat.” I’m not!

I refuse to kowtow to the establishment elite for some greater good. Especially, when it’s not greater and it’s not good.

The problems with Perez can be wrapped up in a few screenshots:

Tom Perez - Wikileaks-Podesta

As it turns out, Podesta and Tom Perez exchanged several emails ”“ 18 to be exact; all trying to win it for Hillary during the primary. Notice I said primary, not the general election, as you’d expect. Primaries are supposed to remain neutral ”“ I remember reading that somewhere.

Perez had his own email server issues, too. When Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) subpoenaed the docs, Perez still refused to turn them over. But, hey grab ’em by the p***y, right?

In 2013, when Perez was angling behind the scenes to replace Eric Holder as U.S. Attorney General, the House Oversight and Judiciary Committees, along with the minority staff on the Senate Judiciary Committee, launched an investigation into Perez’s activities and found that he did a lot of business at DOJ using a private email address. The investigation determined that Perez “likely violated both the spirit and letter of the Federal Records Act” by using his private email to hide what he was doing from federal officials, according to The Wall Street Journal.

It’s not sour grapes. It is a systematic problem within the DNC and all subordinate state Dem parties: many of the primaries were rigged against Bernie. And, yes #BernieWouldHaveWon against Hillary if the system had been fair.

Which leads me to The Donald, who tweeted:

Despite the narrative being spun on the Sunday Morning political news shows ”“ Trump is on the money with this message! Perez won 235-200 over Ellison and the vote wasn’t even recorded on the second round, oh my. Leave it to the Democrats to change the rules in the middle of the game.

Progressives paid attention. As I said a few days ago, progressives were forgiving, but it was wearing thin.

I think the rubber band broke.

That sucking sound the DNC is hearing are all the progressives going unaffiliated.
They’re tired of being handed poop and told it’s chocolate ice cream.

Also, the establishment of the DNC knew full well what they were doing. They just don’t care. The establishment is perfectly fine with losing elections as long as they get to keep the power and control over the party.

The plan is to let the progressive vent, push an anti-Trump/anti-Republican activist message, then reel the progressives back during the next election cycle. It’s called How to kill a revolution 1.0.

What the lstsrvs are saying . . .

I’m on six different progressive list serves and over the past 24 hours I can say this about the chatter:

  1. The progressives saw this coming. They had hope, but they weren’t stupid enough to think the DNC would actually do the right thing;
  2. Progressives have already gone to Plan B and Plan C.

Plan B is moving away from the Democratic party; Plan C is talking progressive candidates into running as independents. And, if they can’t talk candidates into going independent, progressives will pick and choose at the ballot box, while some may very well sit out the next cycle or two entirely.

It gives “the righteous” Democrats heartburn when I say this, but the truth is simply that the party did it to themselves. The DNC (and state parties) can raise all the money they want, but the votes won’t be there.

Ellison was marriage counseling; Perez was divorce. (A quote I stole from Caitlin Johnstone over at Newslogue)
