While NC GOP delegates were electing their Chairman and other positions, nuts were protesting on Nutt Street in Wilmington, North Carolina this weekend.
A collection of about two dozen protesters protested outside of the NC GOP Convention over the weekend.
One of the protesters wore a red t-shirt that read, “Trump is the Symptom, Capitalism the Disease, SOCIALISM IS THE CURE.”
According to a Facebook post, “Best Denny Rufus” or “PapaBear” was one of the protesters in attendance.
Rufus was seen among the protesters wearing a yellow shirt that said ‘Peace Monitor on it and waving a large rainbow flag.
Women Organizing for Women says that they are a “goup [sic] for progressive women and men of Wilmington, NC.”
The group said is, “dedicated to advancing progressive political causes.”
The name given to this protest on Facebook was Wilmington tells the GOP to “hit the road Jack.”
The group brought a number of costumes and props. Big Bird was in attendance and some dressed up in the style of the Hulu Series A Handmaid’s Tale.
Another organizer was Cathy McFeeters. She and her husband, Bob, both attended the protest.
McFeeters advertised the protest on her Facebook page, naming it “Wilmington Tells NC GOP to Hit the Road.”
The protesters were clearly not Donald Trump fans.
McFeeters’ Facebook profile reads, “LOOKING FOR FRIENDS DEDICATED TO PUTTING t-RUMP IN JAIL FOR TREASON OR AN INSANE ASYLUM…HIS CHOICE.”
American Lens was on the ground and captured the protesters chanting at NC GOP Convention goers — who chanted right back.
